A Supernatural
alternative that
never renews.
If you are working out what to do about your VR fitness subscription, here is a straight comparison. BoxWherever is a one-time $19.99 Meta Quest app that turns music you already own into a boxing workout. It is not the same product as Supernatural, and this page is honest about where each one wins.
What is actually changing
Supernatural has left Meta and is relaunching as an independent company. Every fact below is quoted from Supernatural's own FAQ, checked on 2026-09-16.
- The app you have today winds down. “If your annual plan runs past December 3, 2026 Meta will issue a prorated refund around that date.”
- A new Supernatural is coming. “We're aiming to relaunch the VR experience in fall 2026.” It will be a fresh account, and Supernatural says favourites do not carry over.
- The price is going up, and they say why. “Founding Members lock in $180/year for their first year. After launch, standard pricing is $20/month or $200/year.”
- Not everywhere at first. “At launch, Supernatural will be available in the United States and Canada.”
- There is help if money is the problem. Supernatural runs scholarships — “we offer a limited number of quarterly scholarships to lift up community members whose financial challenges have made it extremely difficult to prioritize their health and fitness”. If cost is the only thing standing between you and a service you love, ask them before you leave.

Who each one is for
CHOOSE SUPERNATURAL IF
- You want a real coach talking you through the workout
- You want someone else to choose the music and the programme
- You want the community, the streaks and the leaderboards
- You want new workouts arriving without you having to do anything
- You want more than boxing — Supernatural's library has always ranged well beyond it
- You are in the United States and Canada, where it launches first
That is a genuinely good product and a fair price for what it is. If this list is you, stay where you are.
CHOOSE BOXWHEREVER IF
- You would rather pay once than hold a subscription
- You want to box to your own music, including songs no service licenses
- You already know what you want to do and do not need coaching
- You want to place every punch, block and duck yourself if you feel like it
- You want up to six household profiles on one account
- You want it to keep working whatever happens to anyone's business

What BoxWherever does not do
Worth knowing before you spend anything, because we would rather you did not buy the wrong thing.
NO COACHESThere is no one in your ear. A guided training round teaches the targets, and after that the workout is yours to run.
BOXING ONLYPunches, blocks and ducks. No yoga, no meditation, no rowing, no dance.
NO COMMUNITYNo friends list, no leaderboards, no group challenges. Your stats stay on your own headset.
YOU BRING THE MUSICFive original songs are included. Beyond those, you supply DRM-free files you own. Streaming downloads are protected and will not work.
Common questions
Is BoxWherever a replacement for Supernatural?
Not a like-for-like one, and we will not pretend otherwise. Supernatural is a coach-led subscription service with a supplied catalogue and a community around it. BoxWherever is a one-time purchase that turns your own music into a boxing workout, with no coach and no subscription. If being coached was the part you valued most, this will not feel like the same thing.
How much does BoxWherever cost?
$19.99 once, on the Meta Horizon Store. The first 30 minutes are free through Meta's Try Before You Buy, so you can find out whether you like it before paying anything. Nothing renews and there is no monthly fee. Full pricing.
Can I really use any song?
Any DRM-free audio file you own. A track bought from a download store works; a file downloaded inside a streaming subscription is protected and will not open. Our music guide walks through the reliable routes on Mac and Windows.
Is there VR fitness without a subscription?
Yes, though be clear about what you are getting. BoxWherever is bought once for $19.99 and then it is yours — no membership, no renewal, nothing to cancel. It is boxing rather than a full fitness programme, so it is a narrower product than a subscription service. What it is not is a recurring bill.
Can I do Quest boxing with my own music?
That is the whole idea. Upload a DRM-free song you own and BoxWherever builds a beat-locked boxing workout from it, which you can then edit punch by punch if you want to. Five original songs are included so you have something to box to on day one.
Which headsets does it run on?
Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro. It needs an internet connection and about 145 MB of space.
Can my household share one purchase?
One BoxWherever account holds up to six household profiles, each with its own maps, scene and settings, and a profile needs no extra email address. The app itself is bought through your Meta account, so Meta's own rules about sharing apps between headsets and accounts apply.
Why should I trust your figures about a competitor?
Do not trust them — check them. Every Supernatural figure on this page is quoted from Supernatural's own FAQ with the date we read it. A job on our server re-reads that page every week, and if the wording it is quoting is no longer there, this page removes their numbers by itself until a person has looked.
